General travel

• I always travel with insurance across South America, and some countries now make it an entry requirement — Argentina introduced a mandatory travel insurance rule in 2025. Border guards may not check, but airlines and officials can, so don't risk it.
• Choose a policy that covers every country on your route and the full length of your trip, including medical emergencies. Keep a copy of your policy on your phone and a printed copy.
